By 2020, the combined revenue of all other regional film industries has surpassed that of the Hindi film industry. ![]() Other prominent film industries include Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi and Punjabi film industry. The industry is segmented by language, with Hindi film industry (Bollywood), Tamil film industry (Kollywood) and Telugu film industry (Tollywood) as the biggest. ![]() The overall revenue of Indian cinema reached US$2.7 billion in 2019. In 2015, India had a total box office gross of US$2.1 billion, the third largest in the world. As of 2018, India ranked first in terms of annual film output. Major centres of film production in the country include Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, New Delhi, Amritsar, Thiruvananthapuram- Kochi, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar- Cuttack, and Guwahati. The cinema of India comprises films produced in India, where more than 1800 movies are produced annually.
